Tampa Bay Wide Receiver Mike WIlliams Charged with DUI
Mike Williams, the wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving last Friday. According to police reports, the 23 year old had glassy eyes and blew a .065% on the breathalyzer tests for blood alcohol content. .065% is below the legal limit, but officers are allowed to arrest someone if they believe their actions are impaired regardless of BAC. The officers stated that he was weaving as he was driving around 2:30 a.m. and that he smelled like alcohol. In court, it is likely that his Tampa DUI attorney will be able to use this lack of evidence to his advantage.
He will be disciplined internally but it will not affect his playing time during games, the coach said. Williams, who has been starting for the Bucs, already has a reputation because of questions about his actions during college. He was even suspended during college and was unable to play for a period. This suspension, among other rumors and questions, was in part the reason for the team picking him later in the draft. It is believed that this is a first DUI offense for Williams.
