Firefighter Arrested for DUI
Earlier this week a firefighter in Hillsborough County was arrested by Tampa police for driving under the influence with a BAC of nearly twice the legal limit.
Tampa Police reports state that late Tuesday evening police stopped a vehicle that was driving with no headlights on. The vehicle was driven by a nearly 20-year firefighter veteran, with a prior DUI conviction from several years ago. Tampa police arrested the firefighter after noticing significant impairment and took him to jail.
A breath test revealed that his blood alcohol content (BAC) was at more than .17 percent. Legal intoxication is presumed at .08 percent according to Florida law. A representative for the firestation stated that the man was not on-duty at the time of his arrest.
