DUI Arrestee Flees, Kills Motorcyclist
A 21-year-old woman who was arrested for DUI in Tampa turned the situation into a dangerous chase and deadly accident when she fled the custody of the arresting officer.
The woman was stopped by a deputy for suspicion of drunk driving and was then arrested upon confirmation of that suspicion. After being handcuffed the suspect fought the police officer and escaped while handcuffed, jumping into her truck as the officer chased her and attempted to stop her from fleeing. The officer fell off of the truck as it drove away and suffered injuries, but is expected to make a full recovery.
As the woman escaped she collided with a motorcyclist killing the 66-year-old man before continuing to drive away and eventually being stopped and arrested by police.
