Man on Probation for DUI Manslaughter Arrested for Drunk Driving
In 2006, defendant (initials L.A.E.) was convicted of DUI manslaughter. During this case, he was driving his sedan down the road when he turned into the path of a man on a bicycle. The victim, initials L.A.M., was ejected from his bike and was later pronounced dead at the scene. The defendant later served four years of imprisonment and was released on ten years of probation.
On Saturday, October 29 the defendant was again arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. The man was driving through the Tampa, FL area when local law enforcement officers noted that he did not have on a seatbelt. They performed a routine traffic stop and began to note other tell-tale signs, such as "glassy" eyes and an inability to properly pronounce his words.
When they attempted to perform several field sobriety tests, he seemingly "failed" and was arrested just before one in the morning. After conducting several other chemical tests, it was found that he had a blood alcohol content (BAC) of over 0.18%. He arrested and taken into police custody – he is currently being held without bail.
