High Speed Chase Ends in DUI Arrest
Early Saturday, a resident of Palm Harbor, Florida was arrested by the state's Highway Patrol on charges of DUI among others. What began as a high-speed chase ended with criminal charges of drunk driving, aggravated fleeing and attempting to resist arrest.
The course of the chase extended all the way from Marion County where it began to Gainesville where the man was finally caught after being bitten two times by a police dog.
After two stop sticks that were placed on Alachua County Road 234 successfully deflated two of the suspect's vehicle tires, the 31-year old man baled from his car and headed toward the 4100 block of CR 234 on foot.
The suspect was followed into the woods where he was attacked by the police dog about 150 yards in. He was taken to the hospital and treated for dog bites before being booked at the Alachua County jail where he currently remains.
