According to local news reports, just last week a Tampa a man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. However, what the police did not expect to find when they pulled his car over was the fact that the drivers 5 year old son was sitting in the backseat of the car at the time of the arrest. The father was involved in a traffic collision on Nebraska Avenue last Thursday, and the Tampa police officer who reported to the scene of the accident claims that he suspected he was impaired by alcohol due to the different signs he showed. When asked about the drinking his affidavit claims also that the man refused to offer a breath sample to the officer for a field sobriety test.
The affidavit also says that the mother of the child was sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle at the time of the collision, and told the police at the time of the arrest that this man "does whatever he wants." The police arrested him and booked him at the Hillsborough County jail and he stayed there until the Friday after without bail. At this time, the charges placed against him will not only be for DUI, but also for driving with arevoked license and for child neglect among other possibilities.
