Tampa Bay Buccaneer Eric Wright Arrested for a DUI

Earlier this month, the Tampa Bay Buccaneer cornerback Eric Wright was arrested in Los Angeles on the charges of drunk driving. The athlete was near Staples Center at about 2:20 a.m. on Monday the 2nd of July. The football player rear ended a pick-up truck on his late night drive, and the driver of the commercial vehicle suffered injuries. However, he refused to seek medical attention even though he was complaining about pain. 26-year-old Wright admitted to officers that he had been drinking earlier that night with his friend’s home. The truck he hit was a Chevy Silverado, which was damaged.

The football player wasn’t hurt in the collision, but his Mercedes SLS may suffer some damage. He refused to take sobriety tests when asked to comply and was booked for investigation of a felony DUI. While DUI suspects have the right to refuse field sobriety tests, denying the request to take a breathalyzer test is punishable by law. Sometimes a judge will extend a license suspension or add fines onto a sentence if the suspect refuses to submit to this test. Field sobriety test are the exercises that police normally issue such as walking in a straight line or counting backwards. No offender has to complete these actions without his or her permission. While police cannot solicit a breathalyzer test by force, they can use the refusal against the suspect, and it may worsen the case.

White’s bail was set at $100,000. Wright has been in trouble with the law before; he was suspected of rape while attending USC. He was never actually charged with the crime because of insufficient evidence. He later transferred to UNLV because of the drama surrounding that case. If you have been charged with a DUI, you need aggressive representation to show that you are not guilty of the crime you have been charged with. We’ll work hard to support you through your case and prove that you are innocent.
