DUI Felony Conviction
In Florida, most DUI cases will be handled as a misdemeanor charge. In special circumstances—like repeat offenses and/or an accident involving serious bodily harm—however, it may quickly turn into a felony. This would result in increased
penalties, if convicted.
Felony DUI Charges
- If convicted of three DUI charges within a period of 10 years, it will result in a third degree felony
- If convicted of a fourth, or any subsequent, DUI charge, it will result in a third degree felony
- Causing serious bodily injury to someone else while driving under the influence would result in a third degree felony
Consequences of a Third Degree Felony
- Up to five years imprisonment and up to $5,000 in fines
